I had a problem with this, as did one of my guildmates. Turns out, we were both using the GWMI program to run dual copies of Guild Wars. If Abbel's running that, that would explain why it doesn't work. Uninstall GWMI, and it'll work fine.

Well, I can't get rid of that 'flashy effect', I've tried to customize my PvP Strength Shield (Tower Shield I think) and I did this: Link, but it won't work.
P.S. I tried to paste this image to the shield.
Thanks,
Jorrie

I use photoshop and i tell you it's kinda easy to fix the reflections and all.
It's simple actually:
Jpeg files are shiny (can't get them to stay put)
Bitmaps are great to work on. no unwanted shiny effect (they DO keep their proper shine though)

lol... please just get the DDS plugins and do it right if you plan to release any modding... bitmaps are huge files and also don't have an alpha channel which tons of textures in GW use

The BMP's are only twice as big as the PNG files.
Oh wow, a whole 1MB. Yeah that would suck for downloading....10 years ago.

To be honest the best format if you can do it is .dds its made to work well and quick with video cards, and it also is a small format too.
And Rusty it can make a large diff when you have like 30+ textures in one mod.

.BMP's are shit to load. It wouldn't suck too bad for downloading, but internet =/= graphics card. We don't care how quick it is to download, we're concerened about how it'd work in the game - and it would run like hell.

Ok I just want to check once before I download one, although this question seems kind of redundant considering how large this thread is.
I will not get banned for using these, correct?

Also, in continuation of my last post, is there a way to remove a mod once it has been installed?

DDS Plugin for Photoshop:
http://developer.nvidia.com/object/p...s_plugins.html
When loading an image with this, choose Load Using Default Sizes, and you can uncheck the dialog popup if you want. If you ever need to change that setting again, just hit Save. That will bring up another window with a bunch of options, and you can hit 'Read Config' from there. When saving the image, go with DXT5 (interpolated alpha).
DDS Plugin for The Gimp:
http://registry.gimp.org/plugin?id=4816
You can get more info on .dds files from Kuntz's post here:

Technically you are using a 3rd party program to replace textures and to capture them, anet already stated 3rd party programs will get you banned.
Yet Gaile and another person from Anet have stated they see no harm in it and would like to see us make these mods.

Yes, if you are using Texmod you can use mods by selecting em in texmod and running gw from that application.
Running gw normally will not trigger the mods.
Btw about DDS files, you can also use a dds converter i've used with oblivion, it can be found here: http://www.tessource.net/files/file.php?id=8698
It just lets you resave images as dds

I thought I'd finally give it a go, and behold, my very first mod:
Auramod to get rid of the obtrusive Divine Aura.
Should work on all 10 professions, feedback welcome.

There's 26 pages in this thread. I'm pretty sure it's possible, and I'm pretty sure there are MULTIPLE posts explaining how. Reading is key.
I have a UI mod that I'm almost done with (as a basic change), I'll probably post it up here soon. I just need to change things, like removing all that stupid extra crap on windows.
